Rotary Club of Guskara (Club no 59627) was chartered on 11th September, 2002 with untiring efforts of by 22 members from different professions of the locality of Guskara. The club was sponsored by RC Burdwan South under guidances of Rtn Dr Sumit Banerjee, GSR and Rtn Dr Tapan Roy, DG of RID-3240. The charter president of the club was Rtn Prof Swadhin Chatterjee and the charter secretary of the club was Rtn Dr Subrata Ghosh. The club meeting take place on every Sunday at 7:30 pm at the residence of senior Rtn Dr Shyamal Das . The club adheres to high standards in its regular meeting and fellowship meeting. The focus of the club is on changing the lives of the society and creation of hopes in society. The club takes the pride in implementing series of need-based projects over the year. Besides the three popular and regular projects in every year viz -distribution of 100 new clothes on Durgapuja, 100 blankets in winter and 100 units blood donation camp in May/June, the other high impacted club projects are1) Installation of fifty drinking tube-wells at the cost of 6.5 lac with matching grant RC Thanderbay fortwillam Canada. 2) Under “ Heart to Heart “ project- operation of four children at Mission Hospital Durgapur at the cost of 5 lac. 3) Bed kit distribution to 600 school children three times with collaboration of RC Dumdum RID-3291 and an international organisation of Canada 4) “Happy school” project at Guskara Purbapally Primary School- The club provided school benches, 100 sets of steel plate- bowl- glass for mid day meal. Renovated two toilets for boys and girls with hand washing basin, sanitizer floor cleaner. Presented school bags to students. One desktop computer is given to school. 5) Installation of Drinking water tank in Guskara Hospital gate. 6) Installation of three public toilets in three important places of Guskara town. 7) Distribution of ten Usha sewing machines to ten needy women. 8) Provided five wheel chairs to five specially abled persons. The club regularly participates in the programmes of TRF. The club members generously contribute to TRF year after year. The total contribution to TRF till date by the club is over USD 10000 with 1 Mphf and 10 Phf. And also 2 fellows of District-3240 foundation. The club members serve as leader not only at club level but also move ahead to District level. Rtn Dr Syamal Das, Rtn Arup Ash and Rtn Subrata Ghosh served as Assistant Governor. The club feel proud to mention that Rtn Dr Subrata Ghosh served as Chairman of Polio plus programme two times, Co-ordinator of District measles rubella programme and Member of DG nominating committee. On 2011, club hosted district polio plus orientation meet at Burdwan. The club members are honoured to flash across the mind -the hundred percent registrations in District Conference at Siliguri, Digha, Santiniketan, Durgapur, Silchar and Kolkata.
